Stinging Insect Control in Maine

Call Dave

Wasps, Hornets, and Yellowjackets Around Your Home?

Stinging insects can quickly turn your yard, deck, or entryway into a place you avoid.

Wasps, hornets, and yellowjackets often build nests around homes during the warmer months and become more aggressive as summer progresses.

I'm Dave with King Pest Solutions, and I help homeowners throughout Central Maine and beyond safely deal with stinging insect problems.

Common Stinging Insects in Maine

 I commonly treat:

  • Yellowjackets
  • Paper wasps
  • Bald-faced hornets

Each species behaves differently, which is why proper identification matters.

Signs You May Have a Nest Nearby

You may have a nest if you notice:

  • Heavy insect activity around one area
  • Insects entering and leaving the same location
  • Nests under rooflines or eaves
  • Ground-level insect activity
  • Increased activity around decks and sheds

Why Stinging Insects Are a Problem

Besides being annoying, stinging insects can become aggressive when they feel threatened.

Large nests often grow throughout the summer, making the problem worse over time.

How I Treat Stinging Insects

I start by identifying the species and locating the nest.

My approach focuses on:

  • Treating active nests
  • Reducing insect activity
  • Helping prevent future nesting
  • Improving safety around your home

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at kingpsme@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Hornets are actually a type of wasp, but they tend to build larger nests and can be more defensive.

Attempting to remove a nest can be risky and often increases the chance of being stung.

Late summer and early fall are often when yellowjackets become most aggressive.

Many nests die off seasonally, but active nests can continue growing throughout the summer.

Safe Stinging Insect Removal
