Ant Control in Maine

Tired of Ants in Your Home?

If you're finding ants in your kitchen, bathroom, basement, or around your home, you're not alone. Ants are one of the most common pest problems in Maine. While some ants are mostly a nuisance, carpenter ants can cause damage to your home if they're left untreated.

I'm Dave with King Pest Solutions, and I help homeowners throughout Central Maine get rid of ants and find the source of the problem.

Common Ants in Maine

Maine is home to several different types of ants, including:

  • Carpenter ants
  • Pavement ants
  • Odorous house ants
  • Little black ants

The ant I get the most calls about is the carpenter ant. Unlike other ants, carpenter ants tunnel through wood and foam insulation to build their nests. Over time, large colonies can cause damage to parts of your building.

Signs You May Have an Ant Problem

You may have an ant problem if you notice:

  • Ants showing up on counters or floors
  • Trails of ants coming in from outside
  • Winged ants inside your home
  • Small piles that look like sawdust
  • Ants that keep coming back after store-bought sprays

If you’re seeing ants inside, there’s usually a nest inside the building.

How I Treat Ant Problems

Every ant problem is a little different. First, I figure out what kind of ant you’re dealing with and where they’re coming from.

My approach focuses on:

  • Finding the source of the problem
  • Reducing active ant activity quickly
  • Treating nests when possible
  • Helping prevent them from coming back

I also point out simple things you can change around your home to make it less attractive to ants.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at kingpsme@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Ants usually come back because the nest hasn’t been fully eliminated, meaning they never really left or a new nest is present and there hasn’t been any proactive treatment.

They can kill the ants you see, but they usually don’t reach the nest, which is why the problem often returns.

They don’t harm people, but they can damage the materials in your building if left untreated.

Carpenter ants are commonly seen during the spring and summer, but indoor infestations can remain active year-round.
